Navigating Dyslexia in the Public Schools

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Feedback form is now closed.
Educators will begin by learning about Dyslexia, how it impacts a student's acquisition of reading and the prevalence. Trainers will further provide educators with an introduction to the Science of Reading and the importance of explicit instruction and supporting the learner in the classroom. Opportunities for available training and online resources will be shared to further those engaged in learning more about evidence based practices. The workshop will conclude with an opportunity to view screening data and explore the strengths, limitations, and pitfalls in the flagging process, along with diagnostic tools to confirm needs and the role of progress monitoring to measure progress. Educators are encouraged to bring a sample of universal screening data for a specific class or if possible and entire grade level. The data will be viewed by the educator only as we take them through the process of making data-driven decisions, therefore confidentiality should not be a concern.
